Common Sources of Hip Pain

Normal Hip Joint:

Common sources of hip pain are local musculo ligamentous injury or bursitis of the hip. There is usually a history of trauma to the hip in muscular or ligamentous pain.

Burase can be painful due to various reasons that can be evaluated and treatment recommended by Dr. Rehman.

Osteoarthritis of the hip can also be a source of hip pain commonly in the groin area.  These can all be evaluated by Dr. Rehman and treated appropriately.

Primary treatment generally consists of antiinflammatory medications and rest.  Use of heat or ice or massage and therapy can be utilized.  Specific injections can also be done although for osteoarthritis of the hip, no steroid injections are recommended.  Most patients tend to do fairly well unless the primary source is osteoarthritis of the hip joint for which surgical replacement of the hip joint is a preferred treatment once the condition is reasonably far advanced and other criteria for surgery are met.
