Knee Pain
Knee is a very common source of pain.
The knee pain can be from multiple sources such as from the patella because of patellofemoral tracking disorder. This can be especially problematic in women due to differences in anatomy of the two sexes.
Thinning of the cartilage of the patella that is chondromalacia patella is also responsible for crepitations and cracking of the knee cap with associated pain which may be worse with sitting down. Progression of the condition leads to femoropatellar arthritis which can also be responsible for resistant pain from the knee joint.
Other sources of pain such as the medial and lateral collateral ligament or anterior or posterior cruciate ligament or meniscal injury are there. Pes anserine bursa is a common cause of medial knee pain. Other condition such as a medial plica syndrome or a Baker’s cyst can also be causing the pain along with associated tendinitis over the anterior, superior or lateral aspect of the knee. Arthritis of the knee can also cause significant pain in the knee. This can come with pain, warmth and swelling/ enlargement of the knee/s.
